According to the latest available data, global black currant production exceeded 220 000 metric tons in the previous year excluding Russia (Russia's production covers all internal consumption and export is practically non-existent) and Polish share is nearly 60%. This growth is driven by increasing consumer awareness of the berries' health benefits, including their high content of vitamins, antioxidants, and other bioactive compounds.

Europe stands as a significant player in black currant cultivation and production. The continent benefits from diverse climates, enabling cultivation in both northern and southern regions. In the past year, European black currant production reached X metric tons, underscoring its prominence in the global market. In the most recent harvest season, Poland contributed 132 000 metric tons to global production, solidifying its position as a pivotal player in the market.
